As they say- “World
evolved from zero”. In the same way, every other beginning, every other new
activity initiates with zero, with nothingness. Let it be construction of
gargantuan pyramids, child’s first step in school or development of
advanced algebra- vastness begins with oblivion. Same is the case with my
blogging! I’m incepting this blogging thing, to be honest, with a state of mind
more or less similar to that of “limbo” dreams of famous Chris Nolan flick,
Inception- with vastness and least propensity for coherent thoughts. Just few
days back I was befuddled with the design of blog, material to be posted etc.
But as Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher, has said-
"Journey of a thousand miles must begin with the single step"
That initial push from
our side is needed and that’s what happened- I started working on it and
finally, well, everything just kept going suavely!
With all those
difficulties to express thoughts and expressing it vivid enough, conceivable
enough and most importantly thoughtful enough should present a problem and to
tackle that I decided to follow ‘interest’. So guys I will be writing on
history and International affairs; newsmakers and cause célèbre; and Science
and dilettante writing. Special focus will be on some interesting historical
and international events. I don’t purport to be omniscient nor do my thoughts
are dogmatic. I’m just a regular guy like you who likes to read but with a
little bit extra digging! I assure you that it will be captivating and most importantly, original!
So folks, let’s tighten
our belts to embark new journey of blogging world! I’m pretty sure I’ll be
getting your kind support in this endeavour!

History meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation". Scholars who write about history are called historians, so will be.

It will be really a good idea to pursue the history with special focus on India. Digging truth hidden in the annals of Indian history is really important. Many times history is written wrongly with selfishness. It is our responsibility to come up with reality. All the best !!!
@Sachin and Ninad- Thank you guys.Though I'm not historian or expert I'll try my best to unveil the truth and truth only.If I could incite interest in readers, through my writing, about history, international affairs etc. the purpose of creating this blog will be fulfilled!
I appreciate your efforts to start this blog and the "zero" tempted me write something. Amongst the numbers, initially we only had 1 to 9. It was Indians who added the idea of 0 ( zero) to the numbers. Zero came from Sanskrit “sunya” which means empty. If you get 0 ( zero) chocolates, you can be sure that the box you got was empty, zero chocolates. The same is the meaning of zero appearing in a large number like say 1,234,056 , where there is a zero in place of hundreds and that means in the box of hundreds there is nothing or it is empty. The credit for idea of zero is given to Indian Mathematicians Brahmagupta and Aryabhatt ( @ 650 AD).
All present day computer languages use only to two numbers. 0 and 1 . They could have used any other number but there is no number as mysterious as zero. You cannot divide any number by zero. And if you multiply any number by zero, result is zero. Adding or subtracting zero does not make any difference to that number.
Chemistry treats zero in a unique way. Zero has been proposed as the atomic number of the theoretical element tetraneutron. It has been shown that a cluster of four neutrons may be stable enough to be considered an atom in its own right. This would create an element with no protons and no charge on its nucleus. As early as 1926, Professor Andreas von Antropoff coined the term neutronium for a conjectured form of matter made up of neutrons with no protons, which he placed as the chemical element of atomic number zero at the head of his new version of the periodic table. It was subsequently placed as a noble gas in the middle of several spiral representations of the periodic system for classifying the chemical elements.
So, when somebody teases that “Indians know nothing” or “Indians invented nothing” it means that Zero was known to Indians and they invented Zero.
@Prabhanjan Sir-Very Interesting info.Yes,zero was invented by Aryabhatt during reign of Gupta dynasty, a golden period of Indian history marked by exaltation of arts and literature.
Many other erudites like Vatsayana(Magnum Opus-Kamasutra), Sushruta(Sushrutasamhita),Kalidas (Shakuntal) were there during Gupta era.
